Specialties and Skills@headingTag>
Dr. Nawada's extensive background in the plastic surgery industry has allowed him to develop his expertise in a number of surgical techniques. Dr. Nawada is known for his ability to "tweak" procedures to match the needs of his patients, as no two patients have the same needs. He also uses nonsurgical techniques and treatments for patients who may not qualify for surgery, but are still able to receive benefits from, say, for instance, a painless, comfortable, twenty-five minute procedure, of light-based, non-surgical, or non-invasive technology, based on controlled, hyper-thermic temperature injury to fat cells, that can treat all skin colors, to rid problem areas of fat, with SculpSure®, by Cynosure®. For those who have only small areas of stubborn fat, that you just can't get rid of, SculpSure® may also be a preferred option.
Dr. Nawada also specializes in other types of nonsurgical treatments, that include injectables, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, or Xeomin®, which are all muscle relaxing neuro-modulators. He is an also an expert injector with dermal fillers, such as Juvéderm®XC, and Juvederm®XC+, Radiesse®, or Voluma ®. Restylane®, Restylane® SILK, and Restylane®LYFT, Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne are all the classic and some of the most recent tools in his toolbox.
Dr. Nawada is a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, (ASLMS) and lasers and light-based treatments are also part of his armamentarium. for minimally to non-invasive correction of environmentally damaged, wrinkled, sagging, textured or scarred, pigmented or telangectasic, or dull skin issues. With the Sciton® Joule® platform, and it's multiple modules, handpieces and filters to perform at different depths to correct a wide range of indications in the skin, there are modules, or lasers for Laser Skin Resurfacing with Contour TRL™ (Tunable Resurfacing Laser) for deep resurfacing to superficial laser peels, such as the MicroLaserPeel® (MLP®), which is the perfect tool for removing mild to deep wrinkles that are the result of photoaging. Depending on the depth of the treatment, patients can typically wear make within 2-4 days of the treatment. Even a more superficial peel, the NanoPeel™, which is a short-downtime, light treatment that removes the top most layer of the stratum corneum, returning the natural smoothness and lustrous glow of the skin, and is sometimes called 'the weekend peel'. So, the Contour TRL allows you to go from NanoPeel to Full Field Resurfacing. What makes the Sciton resurfacing laser truly unique among other resurfacing lasers, is the TRL technology makes it easy to ablate as shallow or as deep as you like, with or without coagulation, with micron precision. It's Clinical Applications and Primary Treatments include: mild to deep wrinkles, persistent peri-oral and peri-orbital deep rhytides, acne scars, post-traumatic surgical scars, Actinic Keratoses, Pigmented lesions, lax skin in all areas (including upper and lower blephs), Poor Skin Tone, and Contour TRL can treat all skin types of all skin types, both of Face and Body.
The Pro-Fractional XC™ laser also provides results that can range from subtle to dramatic, which is why Sciton® coined the term, "Resurfacing Perfected". The ProFractional™ resurfaces a portion of the skin, creating channels in the skin up to 1,500 microns deep in a single pass, to effectively treat a wide variety of conditions, while leaving surrounding skin intact to promote rapid recovery. Combination Treatments, starting with Sciton's MicroLaserPeel® to remove superficial irregularities followed by ProFractional™ to stimulate collagen remodeling remodeling through deep fractional ablation.
And the last, but not least of the resurfacing lasers, is the 'new kid on the block', the world's first Hybrid Fractional Laser (HFL), HALO™. HALO is revolutionizing laser resurfacing. HALO™ delivers non-ablative and ablative wavelengths to the same microscopic treatment zone, giving patients results they love, without the discomfort or or downtime they expect.can be done even in Combination Treatments with the BBL and other laser procedures. Dr. Nawada now has the groundbreaking ability to get even faster, exceptional resurfacing results, without the downtime, you would expect from most resurfacing lasers, because of it's hybrid technology.
One of the 'crown jewels' and the 'workhorse' of the Sciton platform is the BBL™ (Which stands for BroadBand Light™, and not to be confused with the latest claim to the acronym, Brazilian Butt Lift!)! Sciton®'s BBL™ is Sciton®'s advanced engineering of the IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light), which enables treatment of multiple skin conditions with various wavelengths, seamlessly using change-on-the-fly Smart Filters. For Acne, Pigmented Lesions, such as freckles and age spots. Vascular Lesions, such as cherry angiomas, telangectasias, and rosacea. Deeper Lesions/Darker Skin Types, and a Treatment Expansion -- Skintyte II™ using infrared light energy to deeply heat dermal collagen leading to a renewed collagen foundation for skin firming. Again, the BBL™ can be used in multiple combinations with other lasers, which can be determined for you when you discuss your skin issues in consultation with Dr. Nawada. Forever Young BBL™ is the Maintenance of your corrective phase of your BBL™ Treatments. A 10-11 year Study (The Stanford Study), had been done, by the Head of the Dermatology Department at Stanford University on the use of the BBL™ over time, and the conclusion of panel of plastic surgeon and dermatologist judges was that the regular and maintained use of the BBL™ over the years actually caused a change in the Gene Expression and the study participants all looked 10 years younger that when thy first started!
The more treatments with BBL™, the better the skin appears, and it's exciting news, that you can treat skin anywhere on the body, and it shows the same anti-aging benefit! Also, ask Dr. Nawada, about SkinTyte II™, and say goodbye to sagging skin for face, neck, and body! SkinTyte II™ is a light-based module which tightens the skin, on the face, neck, chest, or any other part of the body, such as the tummy, turkey neck, decollete, chin, arms, thighs, anywhere there is skin that you don't want that hangs, floppy, jiggly, loose-skined areas! Dr. Nawada uses the Skintyte II™ to tighten up the sagging skin caused by aging or weight fluctuation.
With over over 35 years in the field, Dr. Nawada has seen a lot of cosmetic and surgical trends come and go, and he has a firm handle on the most reliable techniques and timeless results that patients demand. Over the years, Dr. Nawada has carefully honed his skills in a variety of plastic surgical techniques, for face, breast, and body procedures, (Please visit our Procedure Pages at the top of the Page in the dropdown for much more detailed information about each Procedure.) Dr. Nawada is continually learning and adjusting, or tweaking his techniques as he regularly attends symposiums and scientific meetings with his colleagues, in membership with them at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), where they discuss new findings, hot topics, what works and what doesn't, or what works better, and they teach and they learn from each other, as well as from the companies who bring us the best in technology and surgical products, that patients like and want, and make, for some of the most satisfied patients in central Florida and beyond!
Education and Training@headingTag>
Dr. Nawada has become a highly regarded plastic surgeon much in part by his impressive education and surgical experience. He has had the ability to travel all across the country and meet also with colleagues from around the globe, and occasionally attend meetings outside of the country, like in Vancouver, BC, or Montreal, Canada, most recently, in 2015, to gain experience and training in many medical and surgical techniques. Prior to moving to Florida, Dr. Nawada had first, after his Internship at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland, OH, decided to embark a Residency in General Surgery, the first year having been completed at St. Vincent Hospital, in Erie, PA, (It was only a 3 year program), and preferring to be enrolled in a 4 year program, he transferred to Saginaw Affiliated Hospitals in Saginaw, MI, he completed his fourth year in 1972. At the end of June, he took on a 6 month Fellowship in Burn Surgery at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. In January, 1973, Dr. Nawada's next journey, took him to New Jersey, where he was accepted into a Residency program in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry (now the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey). Upon completion of his plastic surgery residency, in January 1975, he stayed on at NJCMD, where he next, stayed on for a Fellowship in Plastic Surgery for 6 months until June 30, 1975 , where he also continued, and served as an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery for one and a half years, from July 1, 1975 to Dec. 31, 1976.
Moving forward, from all his training, Dr. Nawada had then decided to start his first Practice in the Chicago Suburb, of Hinsdale, IL, a beautiful place to live, but decided, after a year and a half, the extreme polar vortex-type cold weather of 33 degrees below zero, was 'the thing' that led him to Florida. In 1978, Dr. Nawada decided to move his practice to Winter Haven, where he has lived, raised his family, and practiced ever since. He was awarded his F.A.C.S. status in San Francisco, CA, in 1982. F.A.C.S. stands for "Fellow of the American College of Surgeons".
Throughout his impressive and extensive career, Dr. Nawada has become affiliated with a number of professional organizations. These organizations include:
- Fellow of the American College of Surgeons
- Certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery
- Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons
- Member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

A Unique Facility@headingTag>
Built With Our Patients In Mind
In addition to his commendable background and experience, Dr. Nawada is also one of the only plastic surgeons in the area to have a CMS Certified, state licensed, onsite ambulatory surgical center, (ASC). Dr. Nawada and his Team, fully understand the importance of a Culture of Safety for each and every one of our patients, and continuously keep current and compliant with all ASC Safety Regulations required by the Federal Government with CMS, as well as the State agency, The Agency for Health Care Administration, AHCA, which is why his surgical center is held at the same operating standards as world-class hospitals. Besides the primary and driving force of Safety, Privacy and Convenience were two of the other considerations in his decision to build a facility in 2001, onto the rear of the Office Building of his own existing Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Practice that was built in 1992. A surgery center that offered a place that would be unlike more public or multi-specialty centers for our patients who may feel more comfortable about their confidentiality, and prefer easy and minimal distance to enter and to leave our facility right from our own parking lot, without having to pay for parking or park far away. And it stands to reason that it could be considered a Concierge approach, Dr. Nawada and his Staff follow through with each surgical patient, from first consultation and patient education, to consents, to surgery, through post-op discharge and post-op calls, and sometimes, even on weekends if necessary, as well as follow-up appointments. As one of his patients wrote in her recent post-op review; "Dr. Nawada and Staff are so Real. You are not a number, you are a person. (I) Wouldn't go anywhere else"! It's feedback like that, when a patient feels truly respected and cared for, from first consultation to their post-operative discharge, by the same nurses and surgeon, that makes us feel proud that we must be doing something right. It's the kind of service Dr. Nawada and his Staff genuinely love to provide.
Also, we are so happy to be working in every surgery with, APMC of Lakeland. General Anesthesia is provided by Dr. Nawada's long-time Associates, whom we also consider as friends, and can't say enough good words about, the highly qualified and experienced, meticulous, diligent and patient, Board Certified Anesthesiologists, Keith Fournet, MD, Kevin Fournet, MD, (who happen to be twins), and Ricardo Simeon, MD.
Dr. Nawada's Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC), is also under contract, for the safety operations of the facility, with William R Phillips, PhD, CGC, CIAQP, CDT, and his company, RITEway Building Services, Inc. of Winter Park, FL, www.ritewayservices.net, for Life Safety Compliance assistance, ASC Facility Management, (the regular care, maintenance, and overseeing of the safe functioning of the physical plant, all equipment and correct mechanical and regulatory compliance of the operations of the ASC), in compliance with AHCA, (Agency for Health Care Administration), in Tallahassee, and with Federal Regulations for Medicare Accreditation by CMS.
Richard Lamar Edwards, RPh, is a contractor with Nawada Plastic Surgery as Pharmacy Consultant, who visits the facility monthly to make sure medication and drug compliance is in order, and to update and educate Nawada Plastic Surgery's clinical staff.
Elizabeth Ann Noles, RN, LHRM (Beth Ann) is Nawada Plastic Surgery's ASC's Licensed Risk Manager, and also, seamlessly functions between the two entities, for the ASC as well as, Dr. Nawada's Aesthetic Surgery Practice, as Nurse Manager.
Peruvian-born, bi-lingual, Spanish speaking, Oriana Mangheitr-Boggie, RN, BSN, also works hand in hand with Beth Ann, both in the Practice and in the O.R. with Dr. Nawada, and also with Beth Ann, in PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit), with patients in their post-op Recovery.
Ada Donaldson, RN, has worked with Dr. Nawada for many years on a part-time basis as a Scrub Nurse and OR Technician, which is how RN's used to be trained many years ago. Ada worked with him in the past, in another facility, and then, FOR him, since he built Nawada Plastic Surgery's ASC.
Rebecca Sumner, RN, began working with Nawada Plastic Surgery's ASC crew in 2016 as a Recovery Nurse, working in our PACU on a part-time basis, and we are delighted to have her as part of our team.
Matt Nawada, with a B.A. from Lehigh University, who double-majored in Sociology/Social Psychology and Religion, and has had a long and broad education and exposure to music throughout his earlier years, but loves to work at Nawada Plastic Surgery in the capacity of a surgical tech and assistant to his dad, Dr. Nawada on surgery days, as well as an internal business assistant to Dr. Nawada. Matt takes great pride working with his dad, but he also has his own professional life, which is one that follows his passion for Music as a Music Producer and Head of Production/and Recording Artist at South Coast Records, in Orlando. We don't know how he juggles it all, but Matt is also the Father of two young children.
Christina Ann Nawada, whose degree is in Art, from Mercyhurst College (now Mercyhurst University), in Erie, PA, and had done further studies in the Fine Arts division at University of South Florida for three years, which was, at the time of her attendance there at USF, directly across the road on USF's campus, from the newly built Moffitt Cancer Center, which after having taken a tour of their facility, was inspired by and fueled in her interest to build a health care facility with Dr. Nawada, for his Plastic Surgery Practice...something beautiful for the Winter Haven Community on 1st Street, South, and to collaborate with Dr. Nawada and the creative and meticulous work of Don Paris, of Paris Contracting, Inc. of Winter Haven, FL in the Design of the original brick building in it's first phase in 1991-92, as well as with Walton Architectural Associates, Inc. of Orlando, and General Contractor, R.C. Stevens, also of Orlando, in 2000, to build the add-on, of the Plastic Surgery Facility Addition at the rear of Dr. Nawada's Office building, for the Ambulatory Surgical Center that was completed and licensed and ready to operate on Nov. 13, 2001. (Florida License #1129). Christina is the Administrator. She is also the "Office Spouse" married to Dr. Nawada since 1971 and they have four adult children and five grandchildren.
